Cupcakes are an all time classic to make with children. There are so many different types of cupcakes that you can make at home but for this one we are going nice and simple which makes it great if this is the first time that you are trying it out.
Before jumping right into the recipe, I can always remember making cupcakes as a kid. We probably should have made them more often but we always have a soft spot for cookies. And I think it probably had a little something to do with the mess. But when we did make cupcakes, it was a real treat because we got to play with icing sugar and food colouring. I don’t know what makes it so exciting as a kids but it just is! For parents, let’s just say it has a different emotion but one that every parents has to experience once. Who knows, you might just love it!
Equipment
There’s a few bits of kit that you are going to need to make these. Here’s some of our suggestions below.
Mixing Bowl – To make the cake mixture
Scales – To measure the ingredients
Cupcake Cases (reusable)Â – Great if just baking at home to eat at home
Cupcake Cases (disposable)Â – Paper casings
Wire Rack – For cooling
You may wish to use an electric whisk to make this recipe but it is just as easy using your hands (that’s how we have done it!)
Simple and Easy Cupcakes
Ingredients
- 125 Grams Unsalted Butter at room temperature Makes it easier to mix
- 125 Grams Self Raising Flour
- 125 Grams Caster Sugar
- 3 Tbsp Milk
- 2 Free Range Egg
Instructions
- Preheat the oven 190C / 170C Fan / Gas 5, and prepare 12 cupcakes into a muffin tray
- Add the butter and the sugar together in a mixing bowl. You want to make sure that it is nice a fluffy
- Add the eggs, flour and the milk into the mixing bowl
- Whisk together until you get a smooth batter
- Using a spoon, put equal amounts of the batter into each of the cupcakes
- Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes until the top begins to brown. Allow to cool on a cooling rack before decorating
