An all time children’s classic! What could be any better than melting a load of chocolate and stirring in one of your favourite breakfast cereals? Not that much really!
Whilst not one of the healthiest baking ideas there is out there, it is certainly one that all the family can get involved in due to the ease of making the cakes. And let’s face it, there is going to be some pretty good treats at the end of it.

We’ve always been a fan of just using chocolate with this recipe but when you add in the butter and syrup, the taste just changes. Personally, we think that it makes them so much more yummy. You can also add some extra nibbles to the top of the cakes such as a mini egg or even a malteaser to give it that extra level of oomph!
Why not go green with this recipe and use some reusable cupcakes. They are better for the environment and also means that you won’t ever run our of cupcakes when you have the urge to make some more! But don’t forget to leave some in bowl to eat at the end – such fun!

Heavenly Chocolate Rice Krispie Cakes
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp Golden Syrup
- 150 grams Milk Cooking Chocolate
- 90 grams Unsalted Butter
- 125 grams Rice Krispies Kellogs are great!
Instructions
- Remove the butter from the fridge and cut into small pieces to help the melting process

- Melt the chocolate in either in a microwave or in a pyrex bowl over some hot water (if you are doing it in the microwave, be careful not to burn the chocolate - the bowl approach will prevent that)

- Add the butter to the chocolate and stir in until it has all melted

- Stir in the syrup to the mixture
- Add half the Krispies into a large mixing bowl and slowly add the chocolate. Keep adding them until you have completely covered the Krispies.

- Use a spoon to scoop the mixture into cupcakes

- Leave to cool

- Optional - use the spoon and scrape the leftovers off the side of the bowl - eat immediately! Yum!
